M.O.M missions!! Beautiful Oaxaca, Mexico, and the sounds and sights of the ocean, the mountains and the sweet scent of Jungle! It’s all before the intrepid followers of Jesus who give themselves to the work ordained for them before the foundation of the world.
The oceans provide giant fish and days of sunshine sparkling on water………………The mountains have a dream quality, with deep valleys shrouded in mists and mystery……….. Here and there a tiny village is visible through the trees, and thin ribbons, that are roads, curl across the face of the high sierras, often becoming no more than single-file paths, to be followed on foot or horseback. But there remains a far more important reason for travelling into this remote and almost untouched state of Mexico……….What is that reason? To reach the indigenous people of the distant mountains in southern Mexico and to bring the news of Jesus the Christ to them, teaching ALL who He is and what and where the Kingdom of God is………In truth bringing them to share in the New Life which only Jesus gives. And sometimes plans don’t go according to T-H-E PLAN!! Earthquakes are not uncommon and torrential rains are common! Under these conditions days and nights can become whole new adventures in themselves……… Roads become streams, streams become rivers and that stops PLAN A. If the earth sways and shakes, then road blocks in the form of gigantic falling boulders appear and bingo! No further vehicular travel is possible. How to get the treasured supplies of clothing, medicines and literature in to the people? Total dedication to the task starts right at this point! Unload the trusted truck. Carry every bit to the nearest accessible village or farm. Perhaps find a horse there or mule to transfer the goods further toward the final goal. Nice Pastors begin to look like banditti and workers like refugees…..But still the work moves forward step by step. Souls are in the balance. This work to reach the sweet and gentle folk of Oaxaca has been moving forward now for 34 years. Remote and isolated villages have been contacted and have received The Gift, Jesus. Diseases have been brought under control and health and life expectancy have improved. Villagers have moved out of doing evil to one another and embraced clean hearts and pure minds, loving and caring for family and friend and praying for “enemies”. There is so much more to do as each team goes forth to minister. Buildings to build from the ground up, where the scattered brethren may gather together and worship and hear the Word of Life. This is the most difficult task physically, as all materials are carried in if roads become impassable. But the finished task is the goal, and in the reaching of that goal brings much joy, adventure and fulfilment to all who go and to those who support the Missions. It may take years of fundraising and personal sacrifice and many hardships to complete the sturdy buildings that are required to withstand the severe weather conditions year after year. Sadly, time for every mission comes to an end and the farewells have to be said……….. Ah, how difficult to leave these precious new friends and brethren ……….. To glimpse one last time, the deep foliage of the jungle trees, the mountains that have done something wonderful to our leg muscles and seem to have taken captive our hearts. Each mission begins and end thousands of miles away. The return journey, either by air or road marks a work done. Hearts ore satisfied, bodies tired and spirits high!! ………….. WHEN IS THE NEXT MISSION TO OAXACA? Hundreds of miles deep in the rain forests, in remote villages with primitive lifestyles - that`s where our passion is, that`s where our destiny lies. Our vision is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with His people, the people of this difficult, yet exciting, captivating, and hard to reach place with peaks reaching 12,000+ feet above sea level. It is the magnificent Oaxaca Mexico. ![]()
We have dedicated 34 exciting and exhilarating years of our lives to befriend the indigenous by sharing the Good News, introducing our 5 point hygiene program, saving lives, helping the communities by establishing schools, bridges, electricity and offering a better standard of life avoiding deceases, infections and death. Offering them an alternative modern medicine and medical assistance, rather than healing through medicine men, Voodoo and Witchcraft. Showing them that there is a better standard of life for them and their families through Our Lord Jesus Christ! |
